Make, Glaze & Fire Take Home Kits

Free delivery within Wollongong LGA. Order must be received before 8pm Wednesdays for delivery for 5pm Friday. Or pickup during our opening hours from the studio. We can arrange postage for areas further afield! At checkout, please confirm delivery or pick up.

In this kit you’ll get everything you need. You can make whatever you want and we’ll include ideas and instructions too!  After making, put some colour on your piece using the 2 under-glazes you have in your kit and dry your piece for 1 week before bringing it back to us to fire at the studio.  We will undertake 2 firings and a clear glazing of your piece and contact you when your finished piece is ready to collect.

If no selection is made, we will choose for you! (We do not offer white because the clay fired to white and areas left unpainted will be glazed clear and appear gloss white.)

Clay

Our clay comes from all around New South Wales regional country areas – a great way to support those in the country. In this kit you will receive 1.5 kg of white premium stoneware clay. If you prefer brown clay, let us know and we will arrange.

Tools

Hands are the best tools however we are going to get you started with a set of pottery tools that will help you add character and charm to your masterpiece. If you have a rolling pin and cookie cutters in the kitchen or pieces of textured fabric like lace lying around, these are great for rolling clay and decorating. Our instructions will show you how.

Instructions

We include illustrated instructions that take you through the process of hand building clay step by step. You will find this fun and easy peasy. You will also find video instructions on our web page.

Painting

After making, you can leave your piece the natural clay colour or choose to paint it with under-glazes. We include 2 colours of the best Ceramic Underglazes to paint your piece, and brushes also. What we love to do and recommend for a great outcome is grabbing an old toothbrush, dipping it in the colour stains and flicking it over your piece for a crazy dot effect. Painting poker dots and anything you want is also possible. Remember to advise us of your 2 preferred colours at checkout – select from colours black, red, blue, green or yellow. If no selection is made, we will choose for you! (We do not offer white unless requested because the clay fired to white and areas left unpainted will be glazed clear and appear gloss white.)

Firing & Kilns

For this kit you can bring your piece back to be fired at our studio at no additional cost.  If firing, you can make items that you wish to eat or drink from as all our glazes and under-glazes are food safe. We will be firing and clear glazing your piece before contacting you to pick up after approx 2 weeks.
